Southwestern Sociological Association

The Southwestern Sociological Association (SSA) is a disciplinary affiliate of the Southwestern Social Science Association (SSSA), the nation's oldest interdisciplinary social science professional association established in 1919. The SSA promotes the advancement of sociological research, knowledge, teaching, and professional service in the greater Southwest and the nation including through The Social Science Quarterly, the journal of the SSSA.

2015 Annual Meetings Participation

On behalf of the Southwestern Sociological Association (SSA) and other affiliates of the Southwestern Social Science Association (SSSA) SSA President Dr. David Embrick (Loyola University-Chicago, dembric@luc.edu) welcomes your participation in the 95th annual SSSA Meetings which will convene in Denver, Colorado, April 8-11, 2015 at the Grand Hyatt Hotel. The theme for the meetings is "Latinos and the Change of a Nation: Implications for the Social Sciences."

First Call for Abstracts and Participtants,SSA 2015

SSA President-Elect and Sociology Program Chair Dr. Carla Goar (Kent State University) invites the submission of abstracts/proposals for paper, panel, poster, and visual sociology presentations on this theme or other topics from a sociological perspective. Program Notes and Updates for SSA Annual Meetings

Stay tuned for updates and announcements regarding association activities and preliminary program information. Based on past practice, we would expect notification of paper acceptance and access to preliminary programs to be sent by email through the online submission system and conference organizers.

Silent Auction at the SSA Annual Meetings

Of course, don't forget the Sociology Silent Auction to support the American Sociological Association's Minority Fellowship Program. Plan to bring items you wish to donate to the booth in the exhibit hall to be included in the auction and bid generously for the donated goodies. Thanks to Vice-President Dr. Carol Walther, Northern Illinois University (cwalther@niu.edu) for organizing the Silent Auction this year.
